Fergus has been designing and letter carving in stone for over 10 years, progressing from a hobby to full-time work in 2019.
He studied first under Helen Mary Skelton in Ditchling, and then under master letter carver Chris Elsey.
He now works in Wivelsfield alongside Thomas Sargeant designing and carving memorials, and other commissions in stone and wood.

Spring, italic letters based on the forms in John Skelton’s book “ Skelton’s Alphabet Workbook “. The V incised letters are finished with a herringbone chiselled pattern, which the artist first noticed on a Skelton inscription back in 1990.
